Food Science Issues:
Each student in Food Science will complete two (2) Food Science Issues per quarter (4/semester).
You will locate and read an article of interest that will acquaint you with some of the current issues facing the food industry today. Articles should be chosen from Periodicals such as newspapers and magazines, or from a reliable internet source. To be considered "current", this article/event should have been published within the last 3 months.
Steps:
1. Read an article and summarize what the article was about, and what you learned. Be sure to include the following:
a. Title of the article
b. Title of Publication
c. Name of author
d. Date of Publication
e. Provide a summary of the key points of the article
f. What are 2 things you learned from reading the article?
2. Each article is worth 20 points, or 80 points of your semester grade.
3.You may choose to read the article to have the opportunity to recieve the full 20 points, or you may hand in the basket to receive half credit (10 points).
3.At the beginning of class the instructor will ask if there are any food science issues that the class would like to share. If you have one to share with the class, this will be the time to do so. ONLY 2 articles will be permitted to be read in class/day. We can not afford to read 10 articles the last day of class...
4. Up to 2 extra articles can be submitted for extra credit- worth 10 points each if read (or 5 points if submiitted to the basket)
